Berkeley Foothills on a Sunny Sunday - 22 Jun 2025

I took a couple hour wander through the lower altitude Berkeley Hills - the Berkeley Foothills to me - and took the big camera. This was mostly to test a new lens. I came back with some decent shots and this blog is just hanging out here, so why not.

The route was in the Northern part of Berkeley, almost to the Contra Costa County border. I often use this route on Sunday's to go to the Kensington Farmer's Market, but that wasn't a goal today. I was mostly taking shots of things that popped out at me - some that I've captured in the past (usually with the Pixel device), but some that the bright day showed contrasts I've missed before. Mostly a good sampling of this Berkeley neighborhood that can be rustic in places and colorful in others. And often with views of the Bay, which was a bit hazy today.

The route started at home and went up through Live Oak Park...

Through a couple short paths by Beth El and on to Spruce...

With a bunch of interesting houses and gardens of bright flowers, all good for testing images...

And down The Alameda to head back home...

All-in-all, a good way to spend an early Sunday on a bright day.
