Day 6b - Hakata History

It was still early after we got back to Fukuoka from Dazaifu so needed to fill time before dinner. Naturally this means more exploring and there were parts of Hakata, the center of Fukuoka, that had some interesting sites. We decided to visit the Hakata Machiya Hometown Museum, a group of preserved buildings filled with stuff to preserve the Hakata story.

Getting to the museum takes us through the Kushida shrine, subject of Day 5. Passing through we noticed something we didn’t before or at least didn’t realize the relevance – another sacred cow with lots of evidence of rubbing – saves the half hour trip to Dazaifu...
